Summary of Provisions

1. It is a misdemeanor to install or operate an alarm system in Woodside without a valid permit.

2. Any audible system installed must have an automatic shut off device which automatically shuts off the sound within fifteen minutes after the alarm is activated. If it becomes necessary for the Town to call an alarm service company to shut off the alarm, the alarm user will be billed and must pay for any expense incurred.

3. The intentional activation of a false alarm will result in the permanent revocation of the alarm permit.

4. The activation of a false alarm due to the negligence of the alarm user or authorized operator may result in the assessment of a $50.00 service charge to the user.

5. The activation of three false alarms caused by malfunctioning of the alarm system within a calendar year may result in revocation of the alarm permit.

6. Alarm permits revoked for false alarms due to malfunctions may be reinstated upon proof from the person servicing the alarm system that it has been repaired and upon payment of a $50.00 fee.

7. You will not be charged a fee or assessed any penalty for false alarms caused by something you cannot control, such as storms, down telephone lines, etc.

8. A responsible party may be required to respond to an alarm at your residence or business to secure the premises. Failure to respond may result in the revocation of your alarm permit.

9. Your alarm permit may be revoked if you fail to pay a fee or service charge levied against you. However, you may appeal a fee or penalty levied against you to the Town Council.

10. There is no annual renewal permit fee. The initial application charge of $25.00 covers issuance of the permit and Sheriff's Department review.
